Shot this photo in Nepal during my one month visit. To be more precise this photo is taken in one of the beautiful villages. I put my camera on the table to stabalize the camera and waited for the moment to capture the movements of the people who where living there. In the photo there is shown the preparation of their famous raksi alcoholic drink. Cheers!

My sisters wedding

Last Friday was a beautiful day because my siter got married.
8 years ago she met her husband in Cuba while she was there as a travel guide and he was the bus driver of the tourist bus they where traveling with.
For me it still sounds like a "meant to be story" and makes the story even better.
I was asked to record this unforgettable day by translating it to pictures and my brother (www.autarkicom) shot the video.
Ofcourse I will share some photos with you and hope you enjoy them!

Wallpapers Oktober and September added for the monthly wallpaper series

Hi there! Finaly time came to continue the wallpaper series and share September and October wallpapers with you.

Both are part of the series I shot of my recent trip to the alps when visiting Chamonix, Zermatt and Aosta vally with the Grand Paradiso National Park.
The shots I've chosen are from a long daywalk we tould to avoid the crowds at the elevator stations. We walked across the Matterhorn and got many different views on this amazing, big mountain.
I tried to take a lot of photos with peaple in the frame but both wallpapers, of this remote landscape, I find most striking.
The sun was playing a thouph game by creating a very hard shadow as seen in October wallpaper.
September was made just after sunset close to the Matterhorn.

Next week I will be flying to Kathmandu to do the Manaslu trek and take shots of this remote area.
Can't wait till the moment I'm walking amongst the big himalayan mountains with 8000 meter peaks!

Enge dikke spinnen!

Enge dikke spinnen!

Enge en dikke spinnen. Altijd wel ergens te vinden en met een macro functie goed groot in beeld te brengen. Gelukkig gaf mijn budget lens, de 50 mm 1.8 mij ook deze mogelijkheid. Ik heb geprobeerd de spin goed los te laten komen van de achtergrond. Gebruik hiervoor een lage diafragma waarde van bijvoorbeeld 2.8. Hierdoor benut je ook voldoende daglicht om op een lage iso waarde te kunnen blijven. Door het juiste licht te vinden is ook het web goed zichtbaar. Als je geluk hebt tref je ook nog een gevangen vlieg aan wat de sfeer nog even extra vergroot.

Een dag in Knokke

Mijn zus en ik besloten onze ouders een dagje op te zoeken tijdens hun lang weekeind weg aan zee. Het was tijd om frisse lucht in te ademen na het overlijden van ons geliefde omaatje. Hierover later meer in beelden waarvan ik inmiddels zo nu en dan op flickr een herinnering zal plaatsen. Het was een sombere regenachtige dag. Toch bleek er in het Belgische plaatsje Knokke van alles te beleven. Zo onder andere de vrouw op de foto hieronder welke net uit de plaatselijke bakker kwam. Ze keek twijfelachtig en enigszins beledigd aan toen ik mijn camera op haar richtte. Ik voornamelijk gefotografeerd met de 18-55 mm lens van canon. Dit is op dit moment simpelweg de enige lens met autofocus wat het candid fotograferen natuurlijk een stuk eenvoudiger maakt dan met de manuel focus lenzen.
